srt minolta 100 problems!?
ok so i have a SRT 100 and the i got it off ebay but whenever i develop the film their is a dark bar that covers half of all teh pictures. at first i thought it was becuase it got exposed but it happned a second time wheni knew it wast. i was really worried that i forgot to turn th camera on and was taking pictures with it off..could this have caused the black line? im just not suer what it could be. im also afriad maybe my batterys dieing or somthing but i dontnwo hwo to check that either so if anyone can tell me what might be causing this horrible black line and how to fix it if possible i will post a picture showing exactly what i mean.

Well, to the last poster yes, there is an SRT-100, I owned one. It's an SRT-101 without mirror lockup, self timer, and a top shutter speed of 1/500 vs 1/1000.
Now, to answer the question, I don't think it CAN be the mirror. The mirror would flop UP. If it wasn't moving correctly the black line would be on the top of the image - not the bottom as seen in the image provided. Leaving the camera "on" would make absolutely no difference since the switch only turns the light meter on or off. Even on a more electronic camera, it wouldn't matter.
Also, since the shutter on this camera travels horizontal (side to side) it also can't be shutter issue, or a flash-sync issue.
So, i'm at a loss, but do have one idea. Open your cameras back and look - is there a square opening with black cloth (the shutter) covering it? If so, set the dial to "1/2" and with the back open, fire off a shot. Does the cloth open completely, and fully return?
What I'm thinking here is that the shutter may actually be stuck OPEN or stay open long after the mirror has returned. The mirror would block most of the incoming light, but would allow enough at the bottom to create the effect you're seeing. For the test, the mirror should flop back down at the same time as the cloth shutter closes.
If, in fact, the shutter is stuck, it can probably be repaired. But, given these cameras are reasonably cheap, just buy another one, but ask for a video of it in action depicting what I'm telling you to do here before you bid (if Ebaying it).
